Dance Across the Board

I just received confirmation that the piece I created for the Steinhardt Masters Dance Concert was accepted in to the Dance Across the Board Conference at NYU Tisch in February. This piece was also presented in a works in progress at Dance Theater Workshop in November.

I am looking forward to presenting my piece to a room full of like minded people and colleagues. You can check out my piece "monomania" above. I look forward to developing this piece more as time goes.

Uganda 1 year anniversary

So 1 year ago today (or this week rather) I was preparing for my trip to Uganda, Africa. I left on the Sunday after Christmas to spend a week in London with my friend Rebecca who was studying at Laban (she just graduated... woohoo!!) http://www.trinitylaban.ac.uk/Laban , for her MA in Performance (she got to dance in the Transitions Dance Company.. sweet!). I stayed in her lovely abode for a week. I got to explore all the loveliness that London has to offer, even in the winter. On January 2nd 2010, I headed to Heathrow and met up with my classmates who had already been flying for hours and hours (sorry guys I was nice and refreshed) for the connecting flight to Entebbe, Uganda.

Uganda was a trip of a life time that words and even pictures can not describe. Uganda has a lot to offer with a lot of special people. I do think a lot of people overlook Uganda for their brother countries Kenya and Tanzania, but if you ever get any kind of chance to fly to Uganda, then take it! You will not regret it!

This one year anniversary I will be a little sad that I am not going anywhere far away and exciting, but I can re-discover NYC which also has so much to offer. I look forward to my next trip.. India??

Winter Break... really?

Is it really winter break?

Although my classes are technically done, I still have some work to do (humhmm technology resources), so it really feels like I am still in school. The weight of work will not fall off my shoulders until I finish these last little bits and pieces of work.

And to top it off I have some serious cleaning to do in my apartment (sorry apartment I had a lot of work to do for school so I neglected you a bit), so it still is yet to be any kind of vacation. I am looking forward to the days when I can just spend all day wondering museums, baking, relaxing, and not having to worry about homework, papers, and cleaning the apartment. Do days like that really exist?

Will Coppola
I really enjoy the main page (index.html), it is clean and organized well. I think the coloring of the background, the font, and the main picture all complement each other well. It also loads fast upon opening. I also like the use of the tables to make a tab bar which makes it easy for navigating the site and going from one page to the next. I think it is worth visiting if you want to get sense of a great clean page, and if you want to hear some original music.

Sabrina Jacobs
Similar in terms of Will's page. It is clean, organized, and easy on the eyes. She also uses the tables to great advantage for the navigation bar at the top, which makes things easy to find. I love the image of her on the main page, and I like that I can skip between ages easily. You should also check out her site if you are looking for a good model in starting your web designs. She also has a really interesting-to-read blog that everyone should check out!

Jiyu Jung
I am always afraid of using "just" white in any page that I do, but Jiyu does it very nicely by implementing a great picture of herself in white, and contrasting the white with the purple font. For some reason I always find myself admiring the more simplistic sites that do not have much going on, but are still beautiful like Jiyu's. She has some great content within her site so besides visiting the site to see how it looks, check out her links as well!

Evaluation and critique to the NYU Blackboard

I find the NYU Blackboard easy to use, and a quick way to communicate with fellow classmates and professors. It is also nice when professors post your grades for your papers and you are able to see what your average is at any given time. If only I had Blackboard in undergrad, I think it would of made life a little easier.

I also enjoy being able to look at assignments and find the appropriate documents and readings needed for the class. It saves time in the actual class if all the professor needs to say is "check blackboard for..." And as a student, you don't need to worry about missing an assignment, losing a paper, or writing something down wrong.

I think blackboard is a great asset to any University or College.

Browsers comparison

In this post I am going to talk about the three main, most popular browsers:

Internet Explorer

In comparing the there most popular browsers, I would have to say that Firefox is the better choice in terms of browsing and everyday use. Safari is usually used by Mac users (it comes with every Mac), but PC users can also download Safari. I do believe that Safari works best on a Mac, and should be taken in consideration when making a web page. This goes the same for Internet Explorer and the PC. Most PC's come with Internet Explorer. So when using a Mac to make a web page, for example, you need to take in consideration that you design may not look the same on Safari as it would on Internet Explorer and vise versa. Since not everyone has IE or Safari, then you need to take that into consideration when designing. Firefox on the other hand is more widely used in my opinion, and I believe it has a more user friendly interface.

I personally use Firefox when choosing a browser, it is clean and sleek and fast. I have started using Google Chrome and also find it user friendly. I have yet to try Opera but I have heard good things about it.

When it comes down to it, I think everybody should just use the browser they feel the most comfortable with, that will always make the experience go more smoothly.
